Journal of Missionary Media (JMM) upholds academic integrity and strictly prohibits any form of plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts will be screened for originality before entering the peer review process.

1. Plagiarism Detection

  • JMM uses reliable plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or other equivalent software to check the originality of all submitted manuscripts.

  • Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% (excluding references and properly quoted material) may be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright depending on the severity.

2. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, data, images, or ideas from other sources without proper attribution

  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without acknowledgment

  • Self-plagiarism: submitting one’s own previously published work without citation or permission

  • Submitting others’ work as one’s own (ghostwriting, contract cheating)

3. Editorial Action on Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage (before or after publication), JMM will take the following steps:

  • Notify the author(s) with detailed findings

  • Request explanation and/or revision

  • Reject the manuscript or retract the published article (if necessary)

  • Notify the author's affiliated institution in severe cases

4. Author Responsibility

By submitting a manuscript to JMM, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original and has not been published elsewhere

  • Proper citations and references are provided for all sourced materials

  • Any content overlap with previous works (e.g., theses, preprints) is clearly declared

Maintaining academic integrity is a shared responsibility. JMM is committed to fostering a culture of honesty and transparency in scholarly communication.
