Trends in Catechesis within the 21st-Century New Evangelization of the Catholic Church
Main Article Content
Abstract
Based on the current teachings of Papal and ecclesial documents, such as Catechism of the Catholic Church, Evangelic Gaudium, Directory for Catechesis, this paper identifies the emerging trends of catechesis within the context of the 21st-century new evangelization. These characteristics may be summarized in six points: 1. The proclamation of Christ’s gospel of salvation, fostering an encounter with the Lord Jesus that leads to love and conversion. 2. Kerygmatic and mystagogical catechesis within the three situations or zones of the new evangelization. 3. The Catechism of the Catholic Church as a formative instrument of the new evangelization. 4. Catechetical methods with the use of the digital tools in the light of the “the way of beauty” (via pulchritudinis), particularly the use of the Artificial Intelligent issue raised by Pope Leo XIV 5. The identity of the missionary disciples and the communal ministry of catechists.6. Towards the building up of a synodal church community.
